Why Eloping in the Smokies Is Pure Magic
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels intimate, adventurous, and unforgettable, eloping in the Smoky Mountains might be exactly what your heart is looking for. Tucked along the Tennessee–North Carolina border, the breathtaking beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park creates a naturally stunning backdrop—no ballroom required.
Nature Does the Decorating
Rolling blue ridgelines. Soft morning fog. Golden sunsets that look painted across the sky. The Smokies offer year-round beauty:
Spring: Wildflowers blanket the trails.
Summer: Lush greenery and long golden evenings.
Fall: Fiery red, orange, and gold foliage.
Winter: Quiet mountain views with a dusting of snow.
Whether you say your vows at an overlook, beside a waterfall, or under towering trees, the scenery feels cinematic without trying too hard.
Intimate, Intentional, and Stress-Free
Eloping strips away the pressure of big guest lists and complicated timelines. Instead of coordinating seating charts and catering counts, you can focus on what truly matters—your commitment to each other.
Imagine this:
A peaceful sunrise ceremony
Just the two of you (or a handful of loved ones)
A photographer capturing the moment
A quiet celebration afterward in a cozy mountain cabin
It’s romantic. It’s meaningful. And it’s entirely about you.

Endless Scenic Ceremony Spots

Some couples choose:
Cliffside mountain overlooks
Waterfall backdrops
Quiet forest clearings
Cabin decks with panoramic views (ask the owner for permission)
Each location feels private and deeply personal. Find the extensive location list HERE
Cade's Cove Wildlife Overlook
This overlook, situated in the northwest corner of Cades Cove, is a popular destination for outdoor ceremonies. From this high vantage point, you’ll find an exceptional panoramic backdrop of mountain views. In warmer weather, lush fields of grasses and wildflowers carpet the area. This overlook is located a half-mile past the Missionary Baptist Church on the left-hand side of the Loop Road. Accessibility is limited to the parking area, where ceremonies can be easily viewed.
***No events Wednesdays from May 5th – September 1st. No events Saturdays and Sundays in October.

LeQuire Cemetery Overlook and Adjacent Field
LeQuire is one of the most convenient and peaceful outdoor wedding locations in Cades Cove, making it a favorite for couples planning a Smoky Mountain elopement or small ceremony. Located on the south side of the Loop just 1.5 miles from the entrance—via the Sparks Lane cut-through—this scenic spot offers sweeping mountain views, a picturesque lone oak tree, and vibrant summer sunsets. Deer and other wildlife are often seen in the surrounding meadows, adding to the natural charm. Parking is limited to six spaces, making it ideal for intimate gatherings.

Cataract Falls
Cataract Falls is a stunning option for couples who want to incorporate a natural waterfall into their outdoor wedding ceremony in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cataract Branch gently tumbles over a 25-foot rocky cliff, creating a peaceful, storybook backdrop for exchanging vows. Located just minutes from Gatlinburg, the falls are easily accessible via a short ¾-mile roundtrip walk from the Sugarlands Visitor Center along a paved trail that transitions to gravel. Because the ceremony spot sits along a public hiking trail, couples should expect the possibility of friendly, and sometimes applauding, onlookers. Parking at the trailhead is limited, but additional parking is available at the visitor center.

Greenbrier
On the northern side of the Smokies and just outside of Gatlinburg you will find the magic that is Greenbrier. With two wedding locations to enjoy a serene and glorious ceremony, you are sure to find the perfect spot for your big day. There are an abundance of backdrops that include rocky rivers, wooden bridges and of course lush woods.

Spence Cabin
Escape the hustle and bustle of nearby town and embrace the woods and mountains in Spence Cabin. With outdoor patios, as well as indoor options, you can truly bring your elopement vision to life in this venue! In addition, there are variety of meeting rooms for any size elopement, ranging from 118 to 432 square feet. As well Spence Cabin offers furnishing with 40 folding chairs, four 6-foot diameter round tables, eight 2.5-by-6 foot rectangular tables and six rocking chairs. You can set up this furniture to suit your needs, or you can even bring your own rentals to add a more personal touch!
This venue you will book yourself. On weekdays it is $150, $200 on weekends plus $400 security deposit, which is returned if left the way you found it.

Book a couples massage
Your wedding day becomes a full experience—not just a few hours.
